March’s newsletter is inspired by ‘characters’. Whether it’s personality traits or letters in a font, all of these finds have something a little bit quirky about them. If you enjoy these emails, share the link to subscribe in your social network or forward it to a friend.
The quiet power of introverts

A love letter
Designer Paula Scher talks to Creative Review about how this little ‘a’ character with a big bottom (and a hidden ink drop) inspired a font, which influenced a generation.
The godmother of rock ‘n’ roll
Sister Rosetta Tharpe was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who was among the first popular recording artists to use heavy distortion on her electric guitar. She lead the rise of electric blues and influenced everyone from Little Richard to Elvis.
Cute, connected characters
BleepBleeps design award-winning, connected gadgets. Their collection of cute characters each have a specific purpose designed to help make parenting easier.
Celebrating difference
Many music videos pass by unnoticed these days but this one made us stop and think. Director Autumn de Wilde developed a simple story for The Decemberists song Once in my Life, a depiction of her brother Jacob, who has lived with physical and intellectual differences his entire life. It’s a beautiful and powerful video. (Click ‘show more’ under the video to find out more information).
