Simz wins and four other finds

Five Finds is a monthly collection of five inspiring things we deemed worthy of sharing. If you’d like inspiration in your inbox each month sign up here.

If you think they are too, share the link to subscribe in your social network or forward it to a friend.

Shavings shades

These superb lampshades have been created by Tokyo-based designer Nanako Kume. Not only do they look great, the way they’ve been created is fun too (think giant pencils and sharpeners).

Stellar descriptions

‘Alt text’ is a description of an image used online when it can’t be viewed for some reason. They are usually simple and straight forward. But how do you describe a picture of a galaxy to someone who can’t see it? NASA are making space accessible to all.

Air-bags

Zurich-based bag manufacturer Freitag has designed a new range made from discarded airbags and truck tarpaulins.

Bricking it

Sometimes we all need some inspiration. Even more so when there’s a child standing over a pile of Lego bricks and demanding you ‘build something cool!’. That’s where the Brickit app comes in. Scan your brick selection and it’ll use AI to give you a list of user-collated ideas and instructions. Brilliant!

Simz wins

The brilliant actor, singer and songwriter Little Simz won this year’s Mercury Prize with her fourth album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’. Check out this Tiny Desk (From Home) concert recorded during the pandemic to find out why.
