Autumn colour and four other finds

Five Finds is a monthly collection of five inspiring things we deemed worthy of sharing. If you’d like inspiration in your inbox each month sign up here.

There’s a nip in the air around these parts. Studio shadows are getting longer, pumpkins have been picked and I’ve already cracked out a woolly jumper. To celebrate my love for this time of year, this edition of Five Finds features a splash of autumn colour, some sunshine on a rainy day,  a book recommendation over a pub pint and a novel use for mushrooms.

There’s a sale in the studio shop too. After our feature by CreativeMornings we’ve dropped the price of our ‘Bag of Bones’ tote bags. There are only a couple left now so if you need somewhere to store your Halloween treats (or your spare umbrella) grab one quick.

Warm and dry wishes,
Keith / Founder

Autumn colour

As the light changes here in the UK and Autumn creeps its way along branches and hedgerows, the stunning coloured pencil landscapes of Clément Thoby caught our eye.

Pocket book

Poet and comedian Tim Key has released an anthology of pocket-sized poems entitled ‘Chapters’.  He’s worked with his design partner Emily Juniper to design a book their audience could pocket and take down the boozer. Thanks to Katy Hudson for the recommendation!

Smile in a storm

The weather has been a bit bonkers ‘round these parts recently and we’ve been reaching for the trusty waterproof garb. But, grey skies don’t have to mean colourless coats. Designer Yinka Ilori has worked with Northface to bring some brightness to our outdoor clobber.

Pillow Flight

Director Fernando Livschitz’s charming new film ‘Pillow Flight’ sees a collection of New York city buildings and infrastructure playfully plowed into one another only for them to bounce away unharmed.

Fungal funeral urn

Brazilian sustainable products brand Mush have created ‘Sail’, a funeral urn made of the fungal root-like structure mycelium. It’s been designed as a environmentally friendly and respectful way to send a loved one out to sea to gently biodegrade on the waves.

Halloween tote bag featured by CeativeMornings

Our ‘Bag of Bones’ tote bag has been featured on the CreativeMornings blog to coincide with their theme for this October, ‘Vision’. Each month, CreativeMornings – the world’s largest creative community – pick a word and ask for submissions on that theme. We shared our glow-in-the-dark bags and they were selected.

To celebrate (and because there are only a few left) the bags are now half price. Bag yourself one over on the shop and we’ll get it to you in time to be filled with tasty Halloween treats.
