Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies set by larkdesign.co.uk and how to get rid of them. It’s the detail behind the notice you see when you arrive.

The short version
Two kinds of cookie are set here. Essential ones make the site work – they’re set by Squarespace and can’t be turned off. Analytics ones tell us which pages people find useful. Analytics cookies are set as soon as you arrive, and you can block them in your browser.
No advertising cookies. No tracking across other websites. Nothing sold to anyone.
What’s set, and why
Essential – set by Squarespace
‘crumb’: Stops forms being submitted by someone other than you (cross-site request forgery protection). Expires: When you close the browser
‘ss_cvr’: Recognises a returning visitor, so you’re not counted twice. Expires: 1 year
‘ss_cvt’: Records the time of your last visit. Expires: 1 hour
These are needed for the site to function and to keep it secure. They don’t identify you personally.
Analytics – set by Google Analytics
‘_ga’: Distinguishes one visitor from another, using a randomly generated number. Expires: Up to 2 years
‘_ga_D7WRH9HNWW’: Keeps the session state for this website’s Google Analytics property. Expires: Up to 2 years (Google’s default)
Google Analytics tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, how long they stay, roughly which country they’re in, and what device they used. We’ve turned off advertising features, location data finer than country level, and anything that would link visits to a Google account.
Turning them off
In your browser. Every browser lets you block cookies – usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking the analytics cookies won’t stop the site working. Squarespace’s own help pages cover the specifics for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
Just for Google Analytics. Google’s opt-out browser add-on stops analytics cookies being set on any site you visit, including this one.
Private browsing. Open the site in a private or incognito window and cookies are cleared when you close it.
A note on where they’re set
Analytics cookies are set when you arrive, before you click anything. Your browser settings are how you opt out. That’s a lighter approach than asking every visitor to choose, and it reflects what’s collected: anonymous statistics about page visits, with no advertising and no profiling.
If you’d rather not be counted at all, the opt-out add-on above is the cleanest route.
