Iconic idents and four other finds

Fashionably Tate

Hello again. This month’s newsletter is a little later than usual thanks to sunny trip down to the beautiful town of St Ives. The Tate and Barbara Hepworth Museum have long been on my must-visit list and thankfully neither disappointed. There’s a little write up over on the news page along with the usual dose of monthly inspiration below. Enjoy!

Iconic idents

Following their recent brand transformation, Channel 4 have unveiled a new series of idents said to reflect life in modern Britain. They’ve been created by their in-house team with support from a diverse group of 17 independent creatives, artists and filmmakers. Oh and they’re brilliant.

A Little love story

WePresent (the creative off-shoot of file sharing app WeTransfer) has started Literally, an expanding library of written commissions by some of the best writers in the world. This month Liv Little shares her story of love, lust and 1990s London.

Mind the gap

TFL have overhauled their safety messaging across the London transport network. Illustrator Andrew Hudson (with art direction from Ali Augur at VCCP London) has created bold, 3D typographic illustrations viewed from a traveller’s perspective.

Dads unite

The New Fatherhood is a weekly newsletter on modern fatherhood written by Kevin Maguire. It’s an open, honest and sometimes vulnerable read. But for paid subscribers it’s even more. It’s a place where open-minded dads can share the highs and lows of being a father together. If that sounds  up your street, subscribe. I’m a paid up member and can highly recommend.

Window gazing

During the pandemic, New York-based illustrator Joel Holland started drawing all the places he would normally visit with his two daughters to celebrate local independent businesses. He’s done the same for London and his next book, London Shopfronts, releases on the 3rd of October.

A Tate trip

With a holiday to Cornwall planned, we took the opportunity to finally get to the iconic Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum. An inspiring show featuring a colourful collection of artists from the Casablanca Art School greeted us at the Tate. And we were lucky enough to see Hepworth’s garden in full bloom.
