A swift half

From intricate gem-inspired artwork to the swirls of recycled plastic and the scent of freshly baked Parisian bread, already six months into the year and the sights and smells of spring and summer have filtered into the newsletter. Take five to peruse the latest finds.

In the studio, June finds us building mood boards for an exciting new project and launching a colourful campaign for our client Homesite, an estate agent in Notting Hill with a depth of local knowledge.

I’m off to listen to this.

More colour

Sarah Helen More grew up surrounded by her mother’s handmade quilts and her father’s extensive collection of rocks and minerals, both facets of her upbringing have greatly influenced her beautiful kaleidoscopic artwork.

Cutting plastic waste

With a mission to reduce plastic waste and get quality knives to the masses, Hugo started Allday Goods during lockdown. Initially melting used plastic in an old toastie machine in his parents’ shed, the knives are now released in batches and each one is unique. The butter knife packaging is excellent too!

Daily Bread

La Poste has launched a scratch-and-sniff stamp that smells like baguettes. Microcapsules containing the scent are manufactured into the inks so that they break when the stamp is scratched. Délicieux!

Model advertising

Furniture and lifestyle retailers Habitat are bringing back an archive of their classic designs to celebrate their 60th anniversary. To advertise them, giant 3D replicas are popping up on billboards across the UK.

Riffing

Better know as the drummer of thrash metal band Megadeath, The incredibly talented Dirk Verbeuren enters the Drumeo studio to play along to a song he’s never heard before. After just ONE listen through he nails it.
