Flowers, football and VFX

This month’s finds are a melting pot of helpful honey, some kick-ass football kits and houseplant help, all finished off with a splash of new music. There’s also a bright new case study up on our site too. So what are you waiting for? Click, click. Go.

Text on a light purple background reads "THE HONEY PROJECT" in a retro, stacked style with orange and pink lettering and dark shadows. Below, in a smaller, serif font, is the tagline "Rewilding Britain, jar by delicious jar.".

Flower power

Founders Ed and Laura decided to start making honey after Laura pitched an unsuccessful idea to one of the UK’s biggest honey companies: a honey brand that gives back to the pollinators. Each jar of local, British honey they sell helps plant wildflowers up and down the countryside.

Heritage kits

Wood Street Walls have redrawn a classic William Morris pattern for East London football club Walthamstow FC. To produce the kit, they teamed up with Walthamstow-based William Morris Gallery, which is housed in a listed building that was once Morris’s family home.

Houseplant helper

Houseplants are great but crusty brown ones aren’t. I’m always forgetting to water our studio succulents so Planta is a must-have. Simply add in your plants, their location and size and it’ll automatically give you a nudge when they need nourishment. You can pay for a subscription but the free version is pretty great. I’ve used it for two weeks and the pilea’s already perked up.

AI anime

Corridor Crew is the YouTube channel for Corridor Digital, a production studio and content creator based in Los Angeles. For years they’ve been experimenting with new tech and pushing the limits of animation and visual FX. They decided to try to create a fully AI generated anime cartoon with some pretty amazing results. View the ‘making of’ then watch the full film here.

If you listen to music on streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music you’ll have noticed that some songs now have moving ‘cover’ images. OK Go (previously), embrace videos to enhance their music so made the traditional, static cover for their new single ‘This’ move. See the behind-the-scenes footage they made too.
